Black-Ops On Track To Break Sales Records

For months there has been an intense build up to the new Call of Duty title. Analysts now predict that Black Ops could nearly equal the 20 million unit sales (as of June 2010) of Modern Warfare 2, released last year.

Janco Partners’ Mike Hickey sent a note to analysts this morning predicting Black Ops could sell 18 million units, and generate $818 million. Though previous estimates had never been this high, it doesn’t seem too misguided a prediction judging by preorder numbers. Retailers such as Amazon and GameStop have already announced that their preorder count surpasses that of Modern Warfare 2.

Hickey also commented that he believes the new Call of Duty to be released in 2011 will indeed be Modern Warfare 3, and that it has been passed onto Sledgehammer Games to develop.
