Warner Bros. and Rocksteady’s follow-up to the hugely successful Arkham Asylum was launched on consoles back in October to rave reviews, but PC owners have had to wait patiently since then, presumably while Rocksteady have been adding one last layer of polish to the game.

What’s more, the success of the Danish developers’ debut game has now allowed them to buy back full control of the company from their early investors.

Both GAME and Amazon have confirmed to Eurogamer that Modern Warfare 3 has become their most pre-ordered game ever, beating the record set last year by Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Alongside Modern Warfare 3, Activision have also launched the Call of Duty social platform Call of Duty Elite which, for an annual subscription fee, collects players’ stats and allows free access to all future DLC. The fledgling service has suffered some early issues, with login problems caused by the sheer volume of registrations, but Beachhead studios have promised that they’re working on it around the clock, and no game data will be lost.

Of course, you do realise this is November, and it’s mighty cold out there. The show will be based in London but there’ll be links to Paris and Berlin, who will be showing us how they launch games with their amazing parties. You’ll get to see the pros in action, and catch some of Example performing live, if you like that kind of thing. This should see you all the way through to midnight when the timer reaches zero and everyone screams for joy as the game’s finally on sale.
