An in-engine trailer showed a young girl and an older man, possibly father, fighting against what looks like zombies before running away through a building, coming out into a deserted city thats flooded with grass growing everywhere, indicating that civilization fell some time ago.

Earlier this year EA announced that those who picked up Battlefield 3 on the Playstation 3 will receive a free copy of Battlefield 1934; a download-only online multiplayer Battlefield game set in World War 2. However this was not the case and instead EA decided to offer early access to DLC instead. A large group of angry gamers thought they had been cheated and earlier this month EA had a lawsuit filed against them.

Well, EA have now decided to give away 1943 to PS3 Battlefield gamers with an activated Battlefield Pass, most likely because of the lawsuit but we have no confirmation of that. EA have been kind enough to post a help topic on how to get a voucher to download said game here. Download vouchers are region specific and depending on where you are in the world you will be able to download the voucher from the following dates according to the help page.

November 26th, 2011 for Battlefield 3 players on PlayStation Network Sony Europe.
December 10th, 2011 for Battlefield 3 players on PlayStation Network Sony America.
December 17th, 2011 for Battlefield 3 players on PlayStation Network Sony Asia and Sony Japan.

For PC gamers, the wait to step back into Bruce Wayne’s boots and cape is almost over. The PC version of Batman: Arkham City is available now on Origin and OnLive, and will be in shops and on Steam from this Friday, 25th November in the UK.

Warner Bros. and Rocksteady’s follow-up to the hugely successful Arkham Asylum was launched on consoles back in October to rave reviews, but PC owners have had to wait patiently since then, presumably while Rocksteady have been adding one last layer of polish to the game.

As well as the PC version arriving this week, the Robin Bundle Pack DLC has also launced on XBox Live and Playstation Network. Brandishing his own set of gadgets, Robin can be used to play all of the existing challenge maps, as well as two new maps included in the DLC. The Robin Bundle Pack is priced at 560 MS Points / £5.49.

So, the wait is over – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is out at last, and today’s worldwide launch has, despite some teething issues, seen Activision and Infinity Ward’s FPS colossus breaking records already.

Both GAME and Amazon have confirmed to Eurogamer that Modern Warfare 3 has become their most pre-ordered game ever, beating the record set last year by Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Alongside Modern Warfare 3, Activision have also launched the Call of Duty social platform Call of Duty Elite which, for an annual subscription fee, collects players’ stats and allows free access to all future DLC. The fledgling service has suffered some early issues, with login problems caused by the sheer volume of registrations, but Beachhead studios have promised that they’re working on it around the clock, and no game data will be lost.

It’s rather difficult to escape the clutches that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has over the news at the moment, seeing as the game is literally a few hours away from release. Fans are queuing outside their local stores, jumping over bins and lying prone in Ghillies gear, all in anticipation of their hands touching the box that holds their wildest dreams.

Of course, you do realise this is November, and it’s mighty cold out there. So if you had a bit of a sensible head on and would rather pick your game up at a decent time without being chipped out of an iceblock, then why not kill a couple of hours watching other people be cold instead? You’ll be able to watch a special presentation of the Modern Warfare 3 Launch Party on the CoDMW Official Launch YouTube channel as of 7pm tonight.

Featuring on the event will be a countless number of celebrities, competitions, interviews with the developers and no doubt, cold fans. The show will be based in London but there’ll be links to Paris and Berlin, who will be showing us how they launch games with their amazing parties. You’ll get to see the pros in action, and catch some of Example performing live, if you like that kind of thing. This should see you all the way through to midnight when the timer reaches zero and everyone screams for joy as the game’s finally on sale.

Click here to join the party, and think of those really cold people as you sip on hot cocoa, next to your radiator.

Some people just simply cannot wait for the world’s biggest game to be released, or just be happy with one copy. According to Eurogamer, a delivery truck travelling through Créteil, France was hijacked in the early hours of Sunday morning. On board were at least 6,000 copies of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 worth at least 400,000 Euros.

The reports state that two masked man drove their car into the side of the truck, causing it to stop. The drivers then left the truck to see what had happened and were then sprayed with tear gas. At this point, the assailants then entered the delivery truck and drove off with the cargo. Needless to say, I’d imagine auction sites are going to be rather busy right now.

It is worth remembering that should you happen to pass a battered delivery truck with two men in the front shouting how cool they are as they’ve landed a copy of MW3 before 5,998 other people, then you could just contact your local authorities.

For a good long while now there have been whispers of a movie based on Naughty Dog’s franchise Uncharted. Fans have long discussed their casting choices at great length and talked about what they would want from an Uncharted film. The question is why would we need a film adoption when Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception exists?

The premise of Uncharted 3 remains in the same vein as the previous instalments with players taking the role of the modern day Indiana Jones like Nathan Drake. Joined by fan favourites Sully and Chloe (along with some new characters and reappearances of familiar favourites making appearance later on) the story see’s past events in Drakes and Sully’s life come back to haunt them during their latest adventure. The game’s plot still heavily revolves around Sir Francis Drake exploits and Drakes fascination with his ancestor’s adventures. The main meat of this story is Drakes attempt to uncover a secret hidden from the world by Sir Francis Drake 400 years ago. Of course things don’t quite go to Drakes plans and he soon finds himself in a world of trouble. The story itself starts off in typical Uncharted fashion and instantly sets the tone for things to come. The plot is less fantastical this time around with the creatures of the last two games being replaced with more natural foes. While this change may please some people, and ground the story a little more, it takes an element of pop corn action fun that previous two had to offer. It’s not a criticism as such due to the manner in which the story conveys it’s self. There is slight themes of mystery and fantastical elements at play but in a much more sinister and realistic manner. The more grounded nature of the story allows Uncharted 3 to introduce its most realistic and menacing antagonist in the franchise’s history.

Unchartered 3: Drakes Deception isn’t trying to revolutionise the franchise but instead perfect the experience.

One reason for the success of Uncharted as a franchise is the journey it takes the player on. Uncharted 3 carries on the trend and showcases a simply stunning amount of environments. From dense jungles, to richly detailed ruins there is so much stunning imagery on offer you will often find yourself stopping still and taking it all in. The environments are all integral to the plot allowing for the story to flow neatly into each act. The key ingredient into what makes an Uncharted story compelling is the character interaction. The way in which the core cast talk to each other is both extremely well voice acted and well written. Nolan North (Drake) and Richard McGonagle (Victor Sullivan) both shine in their respective roles and portray a true sense of comradery. Their banter is both interesting and genuinely funny which lets their chatter feel natural. Both Emily Rose (Elena) and Claudia Black (Chloe) return to their roles and continue to voice the best female characters in modern day video games. There isn’t a single line that feels forced or is delivered poorly and this is a true testament to the quality of the voice acting and well written script. Drake and Sully’s bond is developed further within the plot of Uncharted 3, exploring the background to how the two meet is a nice simple touch that adds character depth.

The core gameplay and principles have not changed within the Uncharted franchise and the third entry keeps things intact. The cover based combat is still highly effective and has been slightly tightened up. The gunplay is still as intense as ever and remains accessible while staying constantly enjoyable. There’s a larger focus on hand to hand combat this time around with Drake being able to pull off more combos and counters than ever before. The melee combat feels more responsive and effective allowing hand to hand combat to be a viable tactic in game. Uncharted 3 keeps its gameplay mixed with various platforming sections being regularly introduced as well as puzzles. The amount of puzzles has been increased compared to Uncharted 2 and given the plot and the environments in the story it makes perfect sense. The puzzles offer a decent mix of visual challenges and referencing Drakes journal to crack codes. There’s a giddy sense of satisfaction when completing a tricky puzzle, there’s also a cheeky feeling of being Indiana Jones like. The puzzles aren’t a total mind melt but at the same time they are not simple to solve and never feel like padding. The way in which puzzles are introduced into the gameplay is both well executed and fits perfectly into the plot points. There’s still plenty of section that will see Drake scaling towers, walls and ruins in order to continues his journey, the climbing system is still utterly thrilling. Scaling walls is easily done and remains satisfying time after time. The climbing is kept thrilling by the use of imagery and camera works which allows the player to feel a real sense of scale. More often than not Drake will come close to falling due to a lose stone or a rusty drain pipe; these sections add a little extra thrill to what could easily be a dull section.

Uncharted 3: Drake Deception is a master class in how a video game can convey a story in such a fantastic way and command respect while doing it.

The majority of developers would be satisfied with incorporating a single epic sequence into their game, Naughty Dog however have taken things to a new extreme. One of the most memorable moments in the past two Uncharted games is the opening Train wreck section from Uncharted 2. The train wreck section was utterly enthralling with its perfect combination audio, player interaction and tense atmosphere. However the Train Wreck is quickly surpassed in one of many sequences that ooze sheer cinematic greatness. There is so many breath taking sections in Uncharted 3 you’d be forgiven for needing a break to readjust yourself. Escaping a burning chateau is just one of the mentioned sections of Uncharted 3 that is simply stunning from stat to end. A simple idea that is made thrilling by Naughty Dog’s flare for creating cinematic set piece. The way in which the fire rips through the building in a natural manner is hugely impressive, the action is intensified by the way in which the environment falls apart around you. Each second of this section is as thrilling as the last and is an utter joy to play through. The sheer brilliance of the major set pieces is unrivalled by any other game, or form of media for that matter, and is true testament to the production value at hand in Uncharted 3.

Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception showcases the power of Sony’s black beast and provides some of the most stunning visuals seen in video games. The attention to detail in every aspect of the game is a true wonder to behold. The environments are nothing short of beautiful with light bouncing around them in a realistic manner, there’s an abundance of fantastic imagery to behold and treasure. Character models look stunning with textures being super realistic allowing for every character to look perfectly human. Facial animation has been improved upon with expressions being more varied and detailed; this adds extra realism to cut scenes and general character banter. No other game has been able to render such beauty perfectly married with destruction in such a fantastic manner. The game runs smoothly allowing for the player to stay engaged in the action.

The experience isn’t a perfect one however with some sections feeling slightly prolonged. This is especially true with some of the fire fights which seem to go on and on and become rather repetitive to a point. The lack of variation in enemy skins is a little disappointing as you will find you self taking on the same character model multiple times. While it may be nit picking, there is a few cases of the villains in the story having Drake at gun point but in classic Bond/Indiana Jones style they prefer to monologue rather than just kill Drake. While this is a cliché thing for villains to do it is understandable. It plays into the feel of Uncharted’s film like presentation and storytelling and assists in the overall result. However some may take issue with this. Other issues are thankfully minor. Enemies seem to have one too many grenades at their disposal and often flood the player with them. In past entries the player would be forced into diving out of the way but in Uncharted 3 players can throw back the grenades via a timed press of the triangle button. Another slight issue is trying to pick up ammo on the floor. Sometimes it can become bit messy when the ground is littered with multiple guns with accidental weapon pickups becoming common place. These gripes are all minor in the grand scale of things and thankfully don’t detract from the epic single player experience.

After the single player is all said and done Uncharted 3 has a deep multiplayer to dive into. Boasting several expansive, perks system, customizable characters and weapon load-outs its clear to see this isn’t just a tacked on extra. While the game types are not anything particularly special, the maps are something of a piece of genius. The dynamic maps on offer are some of the most enjoyable to hit current generation systems. A key example of this is the Air Strip map which starts off with players starting on a plane, and the others chasing the plane in trucks. Leaping from truck to tuck to gain access to the plane is thrilling. As players continue to battle the plane lifts off and the action travels to a new environment. The change from plane to air strip base is seamless and hugely impressive. The maps themselves offer numerous hot spots for action with covered being scattered around the maps along with turrets and sniper towers. Each level normally contains multiple levels and hall ways for players to duke it out in allowing for games to carry a sense of variation throughout. Uncharted 3’s levelling system isn’t anything original, same can be said for its weapons and perks, but it is well put together. The action is fast paced and addictive as well as being hugely enjoyable. The multiplayer isn’t all about competitive modes with a nice selection of co-operative game types on offer. These co-op sections don’t carry as much weight as the single player experience but are never the less a welcomed side dish.

After the single player is all said and done Uncharted 3 has a deep multiplayer to dive into - boasting several expansive, perks system, customizable characters and weapon load-outs.

Unchartered 3: Drakes Deception isn’t trying to revolutionise the franchise but instead perfect the experience. It was always going to be a hard job topping the greatness that was ‘Among Thieves’’ but Uncharted 3 has done exactly that. Everything within the game is so finely crafted you really do feel a sense that you’re playing something special, made by people with a special talent. The story is the best yet in the franchise with the entire cast being on top form. The action is intense and enjoyable with the puzzles being delightful and meaningful. The utterly jaw dropping set pieces set a new benchmark for video games. The visuals and audio design is utterly magnificent and allows Uncharted 3 to truly deliver its stunning impact in full. With a great multiplayer to offer countless hours of replay value, the price tag is easily justifiable. Naughty Dog have truly crafted a truly video game experience that will enthral and excite anyone who plays it, be it a ‘casual or ‘hardcore’ gamer or even someone whose never picked up a pad before. Uncharted 3: Drake Deception is a master class in how a video game can convey a story in such a fantastic way and command respect while doing it. There isn’t any need for a Uncharted movie when the games do such a fantastic job of being cinematic

Uncharted 3 isn’t just a brilliant game, but a brilliant experience.

I will admit right here, right now, that the only thing I find more terrifying than being selected to sing “Angels” at a low lit, local pub having it’s karaoke night, is having a letter through the door telling me I’ve been chosen to participate in a televised dancing contest. I consider myself to have about as much dancing ability as a Dalek. A worm could take me in a line dancing contest. So when I was approached to do this review, I’ll be openly honest and say I had “the fear”. Thankfully, Dancestar Party had the significant power to change my mind and get my steps hot.

For nearly a decade, Sony’s in-house development team, London Studio, have been their secret weapon in delivering new innovations for playing games. They brought the Eye Toy to the Playstation 2 in 2003, utilising your motions to play fun mini games. The following year, they launched the hugely successful Singstar series, the karaoke game that let you sing along to your favourite pop stars. From there, the series went from strength to strength, introducing different genres of music to sing along to, and established itself as the ultimate party game.

Head to the present, and Singstar on the Playstation 3 has advanced to new heights, getting players involved with it’s social community, where players can upload clips of their performances, make new friends and download new songs from the Playstation Store. It had licensed acts participate by lending some of their catalogue for special editions such as Queen and Take That. It even featured compilations on Motown and Bollywood. Taking advantage of the Rock Band/Guitar Hero phenomenon, Singstar Guitar was introduced. The last incarnation was Singstar Dance, a title that enabled full use of the Move controller for the player to dance along whilst singing. It seemed only fitting then, that London Studio took it to the next level.

So, welcome to Dancestar Party! It’s opening video instantly bombards you with happy folk around the world, dancing away to Duck Soup’s “Barbara Streisand” like they don’t have a care in the world. It invites you into it’s colourful world of fun, and fun is what you shall have.

The options presented to you will be familiar to anyone who’s played a Singstar title. You have your solo dances, and party dances for multiplayer. It’s not shy on the tracklisting either, as you have forty tracks to choose from on the disc, complete with accompanying music videos. Dancestar Party’s strength here, compared to Dance Central, for example, is that it’s attempted to cover a few genres of music, rather than stick with mainstream acts. If you didn’t feel like dancing to Lady GaGa, or whipping your hair back and forth to Willow Smith then move along and slide along smoothly to Barry White instead. Too soulful for you? Iggy Pop is on hand, as is Billy Idol. Maybe you’d enjoy a “Macarena” than some “Kung Fu Fighting”. The variety is a welcome relief and as I found, an important change of pace. There is more content to download from the PSN, should you feel you’ve exhausted the available songs and wish to expand your library.

Once you’ve chosen your song, you have the traditional difficulty setting. Beginners for those who are a little bit shyof expressing themselves with dance and those who believe they could be in Diversity can click on it’s Professional mode. For example, I value my spine and went for an intermediate dance. Each song also has an energy level, a bar resembling the signal of a mobile phone. One bar of red is no effort required, and just glide. If it’s completely red, prepare to bounce! You’re also given a choice as to whether you wish to move along to the full version of the song or a trimmed edit. Most of the songs are about four minutes long with an edit running around a minute and a half. My guessing for this is for the purpose of uploads, so you can finetune your abilities for the benefit of a popular video.

When the song starts up, on screen will be a very helpful assistant, who shows you how to do the moves as the instructional motion signals slide onto the screen for you to mirror. Again, compared to other dancing games I’ve played, this proved to be a major help as the moves were a lot easier to perform as you could see them clearly. . It also does away with those awkward moments you tend to find where you’re unsure as to what move comes next and spoils your flow. This assistant also comes suitably dressed in accordance to the song’s theme, although I felt slightly disappointed when it wasn’t actually Barbara Streisand helping me out. Dance away and you will get points in accordance to how exact you are with the timing, earning stars and ratings for your profile. Bonus points can be earned by hitting streaks, the more moves you pull off successfully, the higher the score.

The camera will pick up on you, selecting special screenshots along the way and recording footage for uploading purposes afterwards. For those a bit camera shy, I wouldn’t worry about this too much. During play, the focus is on the icons, the assistant and the video. When completed, it’ll show you what’s been recorded and snapped and you have full control if you desire to save, upload or simply delete.

Of course, it’s no fun for your mates if they’re just stuck watching you prance about. Dancing Partners is the co-operative play, allowing two players to tackle a song. Selecting Party play will be the clincher at gatherings, where a number of you can take part in a dance off, and score some bragging rights. I don’t know how this works out as I can’t fit this number in my living room comfortably, but the game states that you can have up to twenty players. It doesn’t stop there. Should you have the type of friends who just can’t let go of Singstar, then make them all grin like Cheshire cats and turn on the lyrics feature. That way, they can help score you extra points with their (hopefully) tuneful warblings as the words adorn the screen.

Next mode to look at is the Dance Studio, which takes the emphasis of points and partying and wants to get you better at dancing in general. Three options await you here, the first being the Dance Creator tool. This allows you to create a unique routine to one of your favourite songs. Save it, then go ahead and let your friends attempt it, and potentially mock them for their failure. Another feature to this mode is that you can change the set routine to your custom one for the main game. Next is the Class, essentially a practice run for any of the tracks featured. It’d be worthwhile to try this out so you can get the highest score possible in the main game. Lastly, there’s the Workout, where you dance along to a song and burn off some calories with a daily goal. This is aided by a meter that fills up as you move and has a set amount so you know when to stop. Don’t take it lightly though, it will push you!

Finally, if you’re all puffed out and need a cooling down period, head on over to the Gallery. Like Singstar, you get to watch players who have uploaded their best footage for viewing, be it video clips or screen grabs. Alternatively, you can upload your own segments to the community that you’ve saved from previous performances, and have the option to send them directly to Dancestar’s official website, Twitter or Facebook. It’s the social aspect that puts Dancestar Party above rivals, for it truly encourages you to get involved. Content is uploaded constantly, and given a little time, you’ll be spoilt for choice as to what to view. It’s always worth visiting, just to see those that don’t take it at all seriously and are quite happy to act the goof for the sake of entertainment.

To summarise then, Dancestar Party has certainly grabbed my attention. It’s a game that under normal circumstances, I’d turn a blind eye to, but exploring it’s options and just trying it out has been great. It’s a fun, accessible title for all ages and certainly makes the most out of the motion control. It’s well polished, simple to use, and keeps you active, especially with it’s workouts. Musically, it has a great blend, and has room to improve. Admittedly, not every song is going to be everyone’s cup of tea, even on a solo play, but it’s clear the game’s emphasis is to get into the party spirit. As far as dancing games go on the Playstation 3, it certainly sticks it’s neck out high above the competition. If you own Move, and feel the need to get the best out of it, consider it a must-buy title. I’d also recommend shock absorbers for OK Go’s track as my shins are on fire.
