For PC gamers, the wait to step back into Bruce Wayne’s boots and cape is almost over. The PC version of Batman: Arkham City is available now on Origin and OnLive, and will be in shops and on Steam from this Friday, 25th November in the UK.

Warner Bros. and Rocksteady’s follow-up to the hugely successful Arkham Asylum was launched on consoles back in October to rave reviews, but PC owners have had to wait patiently since then, presumably while Rocksteady have been adding one last layer of polish to the game.

As well as the PC version arriving this week, the Robin Bundle Pack DLC has also launced on XBox Live and Playstation Network. Brandishing his own set of gadgets, Robin can be used to play all of the existing challenge maps, as well as two new maps included in the DLC. The Robin Bundle Pack is priced at 560 MS Points / £5.49.

Is the economic downturn getting you down? Unable to play the games you really want? Money tight and feeling left out?

Well, with more and more free to play games popping up it was about time we showed you what FREE games your missing out on.

What is a Free 2 Play game? Its as simple was what it is called, it’s a game that you are able to download for free and play for free! How do the game companies make their money? With each game there is a premium version, this is the bit you pay for and other extras like, better weapons or armour that you CAN’T get in the game you have to pay for!

So the Games Currently about are (just to name a few) Quake Live, Team Fortress 2, DC universe, Bloodline Campaigns, Global Agenda, Iron Grip Marauders and many more.

The 3 videos below are of 3 games I have tried out, TF2, Bloodline Champions and Global Agenda.

So on with the shows:

Global Agenda

This is a on-line team based game with the ‘Free Agent’ being the free to play side and the ‘Elite Agent’ being the premium account.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Bloodline Champions

This is a arena based PVP style game. You can buy currency in the game that allows you to by new charters and items for that charter.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Team Fortress 2

A really great simple FPS game. Like the other 2 games above there is a standard charter with limited items and premium charter with lots of extras!

Click here to view the embedded video.

These are just intros to the games! I’ll be back in a few weeks with an update to how I am doing and if the game is ever worth the ‘Free’ tag is comes with!

So far my personal favourite is … Team Fortress 2 followed closely by global agenda!

Have you played them? Do you like any of the games mentioned above, leave your comments below.

On another note : I will be more than willing to give any one a game on Team Fortress 2!

Insect smashing cult-hit Earth Defense Force 2017 developed a reputation for big dumb fun, and this year’s follow-up, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon delivered more of the same when it hit consoles earlier this year.

Now, publisher D3Publisher have announced that Insect Armageddon will be coming to PC, exclusively for Steam before the end of 2011.

With the action moved to New Detroit, Insect Armageddon also adds a choice of 4 classes, giving players the option to pick off the hordes of creepy-crawlies from the air using a Jet Pack, or wade through swathes of bugs using the Battle Armour. New developer Vicious Cycle have kept the scores of collectible weapons from EDF 2017 but added a fan-pleasing 3 player online co-op option, as well as the now all but obligatory Survival Mode, for up to 6 online players.

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon is due out on Steam this holiday season.

The LEGO Universe MMO will be closed down at the end of January, The LEGO Group has announced.

Despite having nearly two million players, the game has not been able to encourage enough of them to move from playing for free to becoming regular subscribers, and will be shut down on 31st January 2012.

Vice President, Lego Universe, Jesper Vilstrup said:

The LEGO Universe team can take pride in having developed and launched a great LEGO experience that many players will miss . . . Right now, we have almost 2 million players in LEGO Universe, and we get extremely positive feedback from players. Unfortunately, we have not been able to build a satisfactory revenue model in our target group, and therefore, have decided to close the game.

The end of LEGO Universe will mean the closure of both the developers, Play Well Studios, based in Colorado, and the game’s Denmark-based marketing team.

Last week we reported that Sony’s Superhero MMO DC Universe Online was moving to a free-to-play model. Now it looks like, in the short-term at least, that move has been hugely successful. President of Sony Online Entertainment John Smedley recently reported via twitter:

wow. Over 120k PC registrations in 2 days for DCUO PC. 4x concurrent increase. Big TV and online campaign coming later in November.

That’s a massive increase in players in a short space of time, so SOE will now be hoping that they can keep as many of those new players as possible invested in their superhero antics, as well as attracting yet more new fans through their forthcoming ad campaigns.

The lovely folk at Raspberry Pi have been busy creating a computer which serves basic functionality at a very low cost.

As we are all well aware, the days of study on pen and paper are becoming rapidly outdated. The fact is, it’s just not efficient enough when using a computer is faster, easier and generally develops better results. With a huge E-universe of resources at your fingertips it seems almost pointless to go to a library and pull out a giant (and most likely outdated) encyclopaedia when Wiki and the rest of the world wide web are available from the comfort of your home or wherever else you place your computer.

Of course, unfortunately not everybody can afford the luxury of using a computer and so efficiency doesn’t matter if the funds aren’t available.

That’s where Raspberry Pi come in.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation are a charity with the purpose of promoting computer science and related subjects.

David Braben, the chairman of Raspberry Pi, had a dream. His dream was that one day children and adults alike would start enjoying learning about computers again, he wanted people to be able to use computers creatively and equally as important he wanted them to be available to everyone.

Davis Braben was initially concerned about the lack of computer science graduates over the years and so decided to investigate. He found that people were generally bored of what they were being taught. Spreadsheets and how to operate windows is all well and good but the general population are quite computer literate already.

The possibilities with computers are endless and the thought that others were being put off by boredom was an unsettling one for David Braben, and so Raspberry Pi was born.

So, tell me about the £15 computer.
Okay!
Well, firstly, it’s not going to be pretty. They do plan on releasing cases for the computer sometime after release, but apparently it’s not a concern and being a nonprofit organisation it’s not a priority.
The computer is essentially an ARM processor, USB port, and HDMI connection. Connect it to a keyboard, mouse and a television or a monitor and you will have a fully configured, functional Linux system.

The specs are as follows;

-700MHz ARM11
-128MB or 256MB of SDRAM
-OpenGL ES 2.0
-1080p30 H.264 high-profile decode
-Composite and HDMI video output
-USB 2.0
-SD/MMC/SDIO memory card slot
-General-purpose I/O
-Optional integrated 2-port USB hub and 10/100 Ethernet controller
-Open software (Ubuntu, Iceweasel, KOffice, Python)

Its powerful processor is similar to those in high-end smart phones, a screen connector ready for HD graphics, memory card reader for 32 gigabytes of storage, and up to three USB ports for keyboards, mice, network adapters, external storage or other accessories.

The open source software can handle any general usage like browsing the web, emails, Facebook etc. But also, and more importantly, it allows you to make your own creations and share them with others.

It doesn’t need charging, all you need to do is hook it up to a TV or a monitor and borrow a keyboard and you are away. However, apparently, you can put in a couple of AA batteries and use on any low budget tablet too.

What about games?

Here’s a clip of the device running Quake 3 with no problems at all, and rest assured when this is released there will be a horde of people creating their own updated games to try, test and share with the device.

It would cost less than £15m to give one of the computers to each and every student in Britain in the starting year at school, it would cost more that that to provision those students with new books, pens and study guides throughout their school life.

Overall, this is a brilliant idea and dare we say a revolutionary one at that.

Creativity is key and Raspberry Pi want to give the key to as many people as possible.

The Raspberry Pi is currently scheduled for release in ‘late Novemeber’.
