The books will come from Del Rey, an imprint of Ballantine Books at the Random House Publishing Group and the first one will be titled Dues Ex: The Icarus Effect which will be written by author James Swallow and will be released in 2011.

The story line for The Icarus Effect, as described by Square Enix, is set in the complex and enthralling world of Deus Ex, a cyberpunk-style technological dystopia where all is not what it seems. In the not-so-distant future, the world is a place of great innovation and technological advancement… but also a place of chaos and conspiracy. New technologies push the limits of human potential, even while they threaten the very future of the world. And from the shadows, dark and secret powers are coming together to take control, intent on designs so large, so intricate, they will take decades to come to fruition. But when two unlikely heroes—Anna Kelso, a Secret Service agent, and Ben Saxon, a special-ops soldier—draw uncomfortably close to the truth, the choices they make here and now will alter the course of history… or usher in an age of darkness.

Andre Vu , Marketing Game Manger, expressed his delight in the deal with Del Rey books by saying “We’re really pleased to be able to announce this new DEUS EX novel with Del Rey books,” he went on to say “The novel is set in the DEUS EX universe and there will be characters and story elements in it, that will overlap with our next videogame DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION, which we hope fans will be very excited about.”

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was recently shown at this year’s E3 and was well received by the critics and gained over 25 award nominations and secured 13 awards.

The pack includes two maps that are modelled of already existing maps (Port Valdez & Atacama Desert) that are then created for different game types.

In this case Port Valdez is now playable on Conquest which is sure to be home to some intense fire fights around capture points. Atacama Desert is now playable in Rush which will see the US fortifications come under siege by the Russian Naval Force.

Arcade mode offers a new perspective and further development on the back story to Dog Days.

Arcade mode challenges players in pulling of a heist in a number of situations in a group of shifty and shady criminals; the game mode is essentially an offline version of Broken Alliance the game modes that is a mix of multiplayer action, trusting and back stabbing and selfishness. Weapons unlocked in Arcade mode can be carried over to online game types, this acts as some incentive to invest some time in Arcade mode.

Arcade mode is somewhat of a tutorial or training mode to prepare players for their time playing Broken Alliance online.

The combat is set to be simple yet rewarding, brutal moves can be performed with ease on any number of fantastical monsters. Lord of Arcana will have a strong emphasis on multiplayer; the game will allow up to four player co-op, taking advantage of this mode allows you gain rewards and items as well as new skills. There is also a strong sense of customization within the game as players have the ability to create their avatar as well as create their own weapons from thousands of different combinations throughout the game.

Square Enix’s Larry Sparks has hyped up the game by saying “With incredible visuals and non-stop action, mixed with great multiplayer co-op and creatures designed by a variety of world-famous illustrators, LORD of ARCANA is not to be missed when it comes to the PSP system.”

In terms of plot Lord of Arcana is set in the world of Horodyn, a huge forest lies at the edge of a village and within the forest lies the source of all order in the world the powerful stone of Arcana.

It is said only one with power can acquire Arcana, Slayers annihilate hordes of monsters so that they could lay their hands on Arcana.

What power does it hold within? And to what destiny is one with Arcana bound?

Square Enix have also confirmed Lord of Arcana will be supported by DLC.

No release date has been given as of yet but we do have screenshots.

Birth by Sleep will appear exclusively on Sony’s handheld platform the PsP and acts as a prequel to the first Kingdom Hearts game. Birth by Sleep is set for release dates of January 9^th 2010 in Japan, September 7^th 2010 North America and September 10^th 2010 in Europe.
