The Last Of Us: DLC I’d Like To See Happen
The Last of Us has dazzled the masses with its hard-hitting story and brutal world. Ellie and Joel’s journey may have ended, but the game’s universe is still teeming with stories to tell. Throughout the game there are notes that detail other survivors’ struggles, and these notes contain some great (or horrific) stories that feature interesting characters.
The reason why I mention these notes, and the stories in them, is because they wield great potential in regards to downloadable content. As such, the following is what I would personally like to see when it comes to The Last of Us‘ DLC.
Also, be warned there are some minor spoilers (mostly concerning stories within the notes), so read at your own risk.
The Story of Ish
Ish is one of the most intriguing characters in The Last of Us, which is odd given he never makes an actual appearance. A down-on-his-luck survivor who has pretty much given up, Ish becomes an unlikely hero and leader. Ish is instantly endearing, and his personalty shines through with each note the player reads. Ish could easily translate from text to pixel because his story has all the elements that makes The Last of Us such a compelling game, and his journey from just another survivor to a leader/protector of a small community would be an ideal story to be depicted via DLC.
The Hunter Becomes The Hunted
The bandits in The Last of Us aren’t as bad as you’d initially think. There are numerous notes and sections of the game that point towards the bandits just being people trying to survive. Sure, there are a few of them who enjoy the ‘hunting’ a bit too much, but on the other hand, there are others who just want to keep living. My idea for DLC involving the bandits would be placing the player in the shoes of a normal guy who’s forced into partaking in one of the ‘hunts’. It would explore the change in attitude in a group that ultimately resulted in them becoming bandits, and it would be great to see an enemy truly fleshed out and made human.
The Firefly Backstory
The Fireflies are a group that get referenced throughout the whole game, yet little is known about them. It’s because of this that delving into their history and their moral standards would make for a great addition to the lore of The Last of Us–even more so if the player was given the chance to experience the Fireflies’ experiences first hand. For example, to see how the group formed, and how they fared during their journeys across the various states of the US. It’s made quite clear, quite early, that the Fireflies were initially a sizeable group but subsequently dwindled in numbers, and seeing how this happened would be fantastic.
