Decay Part 3 Review (Xbox 360)
Decay part 1 & 2 introduced a dark and depressing world filled with mystery and an over powering sense of dread. Both games managed to create a sense of hopelessness which added to a fantastically grim atmosphere. Part 3 continues these themes as well as further unravelling the story which includes such themes as death, murder and suicide. Decay’s point-and-click gameplay has always been a solid throw back to the genres hay day back in the 90’s. Decay Part 3 will almost certainly leave any new comers to the series (and indeed genre) utterly lost so it is recommended to start with Part 1 for the sake of getting to grips with the gameplay and story.
There isn’t a lot different between the previous instalments however that isn’t a bad thing, the puzzles and gameplay still flow well and provide a challenge for the most part as well as supplying some genuine feeling of satisfaction when solved. The dark and depressing atmosphere is still intact however this time around there is a noticeable range in sound effects and musical queues. Part 3 also brings a few more added jump scares and creepy moments via animated character models accompanied by some good use of audio muffling.

Decay: Part 3 is more of the same, so if you were engrossed up untill now, you will be untill the end.
The story of Decay is still only slightly revealed in Part 3 which act as both a positive and a negative for the game. At this point would have been nice to have been exposed to a few more story elements as reward for the puzzle solving but instead we are treated to hints which also entice the player to invest further into the game.
There isn’t much to say about Decay Part 3 which hasn’t already been said about previous parts, the gameplay is still smooth and the puzzles are still decent (if not a slightly improved in Part 3) and the atmosphere is still perfect for the world the game is set in. The only real issues are present when it comes to the length (around an hour first time play) and if old school point and click is a appealing option to the player.
Decay Part 3 fits in well with the series and also holds its on the indie market place, much like the previous instalments Part 3 is well worth checking out.
