Lucas Arts epic point and click adventure Monkey Island 2: Le Chucks Revenge will be given the special edition treatment later this year. The updated version will see the title given the high-definition treatment as well as full voice over’s and a re-mastered musical score.

The announcement came as Lucas Arts kicked off their part in the annual Game Developers Conference.

With the successful special edition of the first Monkey Island being well received by both gamers and critics it seems a no brainer for Lucas Arts to update the sequel, when talking about their latest announcement Lucas Arts’ President Darrell Rodriguez commented on the success of their update of the first Monkey Island game “The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition really resonated with gamers young and old thanks to its classic storyline and updated game play features,” he then began to talk about Monkey Island 2 saying “We’re adding even more great new features in this sequel and can’t wait for classic Monkey Island fans and newcomers alike to experience perhaps the most beloved instalment in the franchise ever.”

Monkey Island 2: Le Chucks Revenge special edition is set for iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this summer.
