The Xbox 360 is starting to face a small amount of trouble concerning the low 9GB capacity of the DVD disc.
Unlike it’s rival, the Playstation 3, the Xbox 360 unfortunately will only accept DVD discs through it’s built in drive and with a dual layer disc maxed out at 9GB this is becoming a problem for game developers. As games becoming more advanced in both gameplay and graphics, the games are quickly growing too big for just one disc and although multiple discs are possible, it can be inconvinient for customer appeal and production costs.
With the Playstation 3 not having this trouble thanks to it’s 50Gb Blu-Ray compatability, the Xbox 360 may be facing one of it’s toughest moments in it’s cycle. When you consider that Microsoft are planning big things for the Xbox 360’s future such as Project NATAL it’s a definite possibility that it might not be around as long as they hope due to it’s hardware.
It may be just 5 years old but DVD is quickly becoming old technology. What are your thoughts on this issue, is the the beginning of the end for the Xbox 360 or will the developers find a way around it?

There's a very simple solution now, although your hard drive will suffer. I expect a select number of titles in the future will have an 'installation disc,' like Forza Motorsport 3 for example. 9 GB can go a long way through compression and other techniques.
For their next console, I really can't see them using DVD again. Surely they'll have to adopt Blu-ray.
