The French publisher [Ubisoft] made it official, and today announced that next May ‘Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands’ will ship for unspecified consoles and handhelds. Though at this point in time, details are scarce, the announcement did reveal that the game will return to the storyline that put the series on the map back in 2003 – a relaunch of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

For those wondering, it wasn’t a random executive decision to do the relaunch. It’s made to release as a tie-in with the big-budget film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The reportedly $200 million adaptation premieres May 28 in the US and May 27 in the UK.
