It appears Microsoft’s heart grew three sizes this year, as they, Activision and GAME have teamed up to launch the “GAME FOR GOOD” initiative.
In celebration of the success ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2′ brought in: “They’re encouraging British gamers to go online on Xbox Live and play the game during the weekend of 5th and 6th of December to raise money for War Child.”
With a figure averaging around one million players, surely this initiative will earn some well needed funds for the charity. But exactly how much money is predicted to be donated, depending on current online statistics – as they have yet to announce how much will be donated per player online, it’s a ball-park guess at best:
An extract taken from WarChild: “The more people who play the game, the more Activision will donate to War Child. The weekend is expected to raise up to £250,000 for our vital work and will enable us to help thousands of children living in the world’s worst conflict-affected countries.”
There is also a Facebook and Twitter page set up to help organize the event. Which helps players arrange a time to set up a party over the weekend. Celebrity gamers will also be taking part – their tags will be shared on the ‘Game For Good’ Facebook and Twitter pages.
