The US Airforce is purchasing 2,200 Sony PS3’s. They are not being deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan to boost troop morale, but to create a true high-end ’super-computer’.

The PlayStations will be stationed in Rome, NY where they will be attached to the 336 consoles already there. The cluster of consoles will be working on better high-resolution radar images, video footage, and “neuromorphic computing”. A term that did not seem nearly as scary, untill I looked it up – a la skynet…
